Hon. Amina J. Mohammed is the Minister of Environment of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. A development practioner she spent the first 20 years of her career in Project Mgt and Engineering, managing Health & Education projects in Nigeria. From 2001 she coordinated the Task Force on Gender and Education for the UN Millennium Project, and served as Special Adviser on Post-2015 Development Planning to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. She also served as Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on MDGs, coordinating debt relief gains of $1bn pa to Nigeria.
Hon. Mohammed is an Adjunct Professor at SIPA Columbia University and served on numerous advisory panels and boards, including the Global Development Program of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the UN Secretary-General's Global Sustainability Panel, the Hewlett Foundation on Education, the African Women's Millennium Initiative, and the ActionAid International Right to Education Project. She is currently VP Africa for UNEA and Co Chair Ministers Environment globally. Hon. Mohammed received the National Honours Award of the Order of the Federal Republic in 2006 and was inducted in the Nigerian Women's Hall of Fame in 2007. She was listed Forbes Top 50 leaders 2015.
